I-beam manufacturers introduce the difference between I-beam and H-beam

Released on Jan. 07, 2020

  1. Appearance and shape:
Looks like the same appearance, but there are many small differences hidden. I-beams produced by I-beam manufacturers: the inner surface of the upper and lower flanges has a slope, generally 1: 6, which makes the flanges thin outside and thick inside, so the cross-section characteristics of the I-beams in the two main planes are greatly different.
H-beam: The inner surface of the flange is not inclined, and the upper and lower surfaces are parallel. The cross-section characteristics of H-beams are significantly better than traditional I-beams, channel steels and angle steels.

  2. Product use:
HW HM HN H is a general name for H-beam, H-beam is welded; HW HM HN is hot rolled.
HW is H-beam height and flange width are basically equal; it is mainly used for steel core columns in reinforced concrete frame structure columns, also known as stiff steel columns; it is mainly used for columns in steel structures.
HM is the ratio of the height of the H-beam to the width of the flange is approximately 1.33 ~~ 1.75; it is mainly used in steel structures: used as steel frame columns and frame beams in frame structures subjected to dynamic loads; for example: equipment platforms.
HN is the ratio of H-beam height to flange width greater than or equal to 2; it is mainly used for beams.
The use of I-beams is equivalent to HN beams.
The similarities between the two and the specifications of the model, the specifications of which are expressed by height × leg thickness × waist thickness, can also use the number to indicate the main size of the specification. For example, I-beam No. 18 represents an I-beam with a height of 18 cm, and H-beams are represented in approximately the same way.
The ordinary I-beams and light I-beams produced by Tangshan I-beam manufacturers are relatively high and narrow in cross-section. Therefore, the moments of inertia of the two main sleeves of the cross-section are greatly different, which makes them applicable in the scope of application. There are many limitations. So I-beam and H-beam cannot be confused.
